HOW I WORK
We are more than the sum of our body parts. We are the sum of those parts plus every experience we have. We are living, breathing dynamic systems that express themselves physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We are recipients of the bounty and baggage of previous generations. We live in the shadow and light of the families and cultures in which we are raised and connected to.
Acupuncture for Surviving Adversity. Yvonne Farrel, 2021.
Rosie reawakens the mind and body to restore Balance between the two. But what is balance, and what does it feel like? And how can it be obtained and sustained within?
The human body is directed by the need of homeostasis so that function can continue - or, more simply said, the body is driven by survival, and Rosie sees balance as beyond survival. Beyond survival, we are blessed to have the ability to learn and grow from challenges we encounter in life. When our constitution and temperament are aligned, and our resources are sufficient, we create a foundation where we can truly thrive.
In her practice, Rosie encourages patients to explore their Mind-Body connection. She believes that when we ignore the signals our bodies send, we often fall into survival mode, merely managing discomfort or stress. By fostering awareness of this connection, Rosie helps her patients move from reacting to their symptoms to engaging with them more consciously, nurturing a connection rooted in intention and presence, not urgency. Once the body is supported and the mind is tuned in, patients can transcend the limitations of Survival and being to live with purpose.
Rosie’s goal is to guide her patients in aligning their physical health with their emotional and mental state, allowing them to go beyond survival into a state of creativity, growth and expansion.
This is where true thriving begins—not merely managing existence, but living with intention and attention, embracing mental clarity, and cultivating emotional resilience.
Rosie is deeply committed to the transformative power of education, especially when it comes to helping patients understand illness as a form of communication. She believes that healing involves more than symptom relief—it’s about empowering patients to tune into their bodies, recognize their needs, and align their internal world with their physical health.
For Rosie, Self-Preservation is the foundation of health, but it’s only the starting point - this process goes beyond survival; it’s about helping her patients create a life where they can truly thrive.

Frequently Asked questions
How long are the CONSULTATIONS?
Initial Acupuncture and Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments are 90 minutes, and Return treatments are 60 minutes. Express Acupressure + Auriculotherapy is 20 minutes.
HOW LONG DO THE ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES STAY IN MY BODY?
Acupuncture needles are typically left in the body for 10-30 minutes. The exact duration can vary depending on the condition and body being treated.
how many acupuncture treatments will i need?
The number of sessions largely depends on the patient and the condition being treated. Acute conditions like muscle strains may resolve after a few treatments, while chronic conditions require longer.
how do i prepare for my treatment?
Wear comfortable, loose fitted clothing, have a glass of water and light snack beforehand to avoid feeling light-headed or dizzy.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A CONSULTATION?
The hallmark of acupuncture practice lies in its holistic individualized treatment. At the initial consultation, Rosie will take a case history by interviewing the patient about their current health concerns, past health conditions and a range of related matters, including diet, lifestyle habits, sleeping patterns, appetite, menstrual cycle, stress reactions and food or other sensitivities. To further identify, Rosie will observe and note other health indicators such as the colour of the face, the condition of the tongue, the sound of the voice and the characteristics of the radial pulse of the wrist.
DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?
Acupuncture tends to produce a very mild sensation in the form of a dull throb or electrical sensation. This is a sign that the needle is in place and is doing its work.
This sensation is usually described as relieving, and sometimes even enjoyable, in the same way, someone might describe a deep massage as being pleasant.
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine so insertion doesn’t produce the same sharpness or “sting” of other needles such as used in blood tests and injections.
Can acupuncture treatments help with hormone imbalances?
Yes. Acupuncture can help balance hormones by addressing the underlying imbalances that contribute to hormonal disruptions. Research suggests that acupuncture may influence the endocrine system, including the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which plays a central role in hormone regulation. By stimulating specific acupoints related to hormonal balance, acupuncture can help regulate the production and release of hormones, including cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid hormones.
Who can have an acupuncture treatment?
There is no limitation in terms of age, gender or condition regarding Acupuncture, including young children and the elderly.
can i mix my chinese herbal medicine with my other prescribed medicines?
In most cases, yes. There are very few reports of adverse interactions between Chinese medicine and conventional medicine. In fact, the two are frequently and routinely used to complement each other.
For example, Chinese Medicine is often used to treat the side effects of modern drugs, and to support patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or other heavy treatments.
It’s always important that you inform your practitioner of any medications you are taking so that potential interactions can be assessed.
Can acupuncture treatments help me lose weight?
Yes. Weight gain and obesity can occur because of problems of energy metabolism and appetite regulation. Recent evidenced-based clinical studies (2019) suggest that acupuncture may help to
∞ regulate the endocrine system
∞ modulate metabolism
∞ promote digestion
∞ attenuate oxidative stress
